Instructions: Windows - Outlook 2003

To use Post SuisseID with Outlook 2003 please ensure the following:

The certificate carrier is actively connected to the computer
The Post SuisseID software has been installed
The once-only initialisation of your Post SuisseID has been successfully carried out
Your Outlook has been set up so you can send and receive e-mails
The mail address in Outlook has to correspond with that in the certificate of Post SuisseID
To use Outlook 2003 with Post SuisseID, Service Pack 3 (SP3) or a later version is essential
You can check which Service Pack is installed for your Outlook as follows:

Signing in Outlook 2003

To sign an e-mail manually click on New message/Options/ and select Sign. (Fig. 1)

To do this go to Sent items and click on the «red seal» (point 1) and then on «Details...» (point 2) (Fig. 2)

Step-by-step instructions: Outlook 2003 configuration

If you do not see a signature seal or you receive error messages when sending, then please check or set the Outlook configuration as follows:

1. Start Outlook 2003

2. Via the menu Tools/Options... / click on Security and make the settings according to the following variants.

Variant 1:

With this configuration Outlook will automatically sign all of your outgoing e-mails. (Fig. 3)

Variant 2:

With this configuration e-mails can be signed manually in Outlook. (Fig. 3.1)

After you have checked the box to select it click on Settings

3. Now you can enter a name in the «Security settings name:» field and then click on Choose... (Fig. 4)

4. Now a selection appears for your certificate, choose the «Authentication certificate» and confirm with OK (Fig. 5)
5. Now you only have to click 3x on OK and the configuration is complete
